RYP Community Development: Equity Series – Diversity & Inclusion
June 26, 2017 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeRochester Young Professionals, RocCity Coalition, and NextGen are partnering to offer an Equity Series to empower the future leaders of our city with training events to help create a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous Rochester.
The Equity Series will leverage some of Rochester’s many organizations engaged in the fight to reduce poverty, combat discrimination, and provide opportunity for all. Each of the events in the Series will provide a framework for participants to reflect, interact with others, and develop tools to create positive impact in our community.
Each event will include light refreshments and time for networking with your fellow YP’s.
Join us for our first event: Dimensions of Diversity… with trainers from the YMCA!
Dimensions of Diversity is an interactive training which emphasizes the importance of intersectional thought and action in creating vibrant and healthy communities. As the result of this training, participants can expect to:
– Define and explain the benefits of diversity and inclusion.
– Recognize one’s own dimensions of diversity and what influences those dimensions.
– Influence others by demonstrating diverse and inclusive behaviors to increase community impact.
– Recognize other dimensions of diversity and explore how they influence your perception of the world and how the world sees you.
– Appreciate and have empathy for others dimensions of diversity and how this informs relationship building.
– Recognize opportunities for inclusive practices among all areas of your community.
The event will take place in the George Williams Room at the Carlson Y on East Main Street. On-street and lot parking is available nearby.
