Join RYP at Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York’s Take Action Night!

As you may know, PPCWNY has a program called RESTORE, which supports survivors of sexual assault (http://restoresas.org/). April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and for Take Action Night, they will be partnering with RESTORE to have one of their staff members come and speak to the group about SAAM and supporting survivors of sexual assault. We will also hear from our RESTORE and Public Affairs team about Senate Bill S6679B, which prohibits the use of intoxication of the victim as a defense in sex crimes (http://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2019/s6679) and the Comprehensive Sex Education bill in NYS.

For our advocacy activities that night, attendees will:
-Participate in RESTORE’s annual “Mailboxes of Hope” campaign by writing a note of support and hope to survivors of sexual assault
-Write postcards or otherwise contact their legislators supporting the passage of Senate bill S6679B and the Comprehensive Sex Ed bill
